NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July
7, 2000--PartMiner, Inc., a provider of business-to-business
procurement services to the global electronic components
industry, today announced it was named to Forbes.com's
first annual "Best of the Web: B2B" guide
as one of the "most promising and competitive"
online marketplaces in its industry.
The Forbes editorial team
selected companies from 25 industries based on their
strategy, execution, financial staying power and Web
site. PartMiner was cited in the print issue under the
Computers & Electronics category as well as on its
site: www.forbesbest.com/b2b.
"We're delighted to
be recognized as a driving force in business to business
e-commerce by Forbes.com," said Dan Nissanoff,
CEO of PartMiner. "Our online marketplace, the
Free Trade Zone, challenges fee-based models by providing
research, purchasing and design services to buyers free
of charge."
Rather than charging membership
or transaction fees for use of the Free Trade Zone,
(www.freetradezone.com), PartMiner's revenues are derived
from a market making service, PartMiner Direct(tm),
which sources and provides hard-to-find components.
The company's approach to online purchasing has garnered
significant support, with more than 110,000 unique registered
users, including engineers and buyers, using PartMiner
technology. Last year, PartMiner had over 5,000 customers
in 52 countries.
In a separate study conducted
by AMR Research this March, PartMiner was ranked among
the top 20 independent trading exchanges across all
industries. The only marketplace cited specifically
from the electronics component industry, PartMiner's
Free Trade Zone was given high marks for its business
model and functionality.
