SEOUL, Korea--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 24, 2000--

iAsiaWorks (Nasdaq:IAWK), a leading provider of hosting services in the Asia-Pacific region, is constructing a 114,679 gross square foot (10,654 gross square meter) internet data center (IDC) in Seoul to meet increasing customer demand in Korea. The new facility, which will open by April 2001, will offer standards, technology and services not widely available today in Korea and a carrier-neutral environment where internet service providers and telecommunications carriers can interconnect at high speeds and high bandwidth.

"We're bringing new capabilities and options to the Korean market," said David S. Holub, vice president, internet and Data Center Technology. "This neutral, high-availability environment will also give customers greater network redundancy and connectivity through multiple connections to the internet or multi-homing, and provide exceptional interconnection for our own network as providers peer with us and each other."

In addition to the IDC announced today, iAsiaWorks has next-generation IDCs under construction in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Together the three facilities will give the company 300,000 gross square feet (27,870 gross square meters) of new, premium IDC space in Asia over the next six months. iAsiaWorks currently offers services to more than 4,000 customers in 11 Asia-Pacific countries and the United States.

"iAsiaWorks delivers advanced hosting and managed services in more Asia-Pacific markets than any other company," said JoAnn Patrick-Ezzell, iAsiaWorks chairman and CEO. "Our new facility in Seoul will strengthen that lead and enable us to better serve customers in Korea."

iAsiaWorks' customers in Korea include Korean banks, retailers and manufacturers, the country's leading chat service (SkyLove), a leading education portal site (Daekyo), a range of multinationals, and leading global internet companies such as EpicRealm, Akamai and DoubleClick.

Actual results may differ from expectations due to a number of factors, including: iAsiaWorks' recent shift in strategic focus to dedicated hosting, co-location and managed services; iAsiaWorks' inability to successfully build new internet data centers; iAsiaWorks' inability to greatly expand its existing customer base; the operational challenges of developing, deploying and delivering iAsiaWorks' services in a relatively new and evolving market with uncertain prospects for growth; competition from new and existing competitors; iAsiaWorks' inability to manage rapid growth in operations and personnel; the inability to raise capital in the future; the risk of not being able to obtain adequate connectivity from third party providers; the political, legal and economic climate in the Asia-Pacific region, which is volatile, uncertain and subject to change; underdeveloped telecommunications and internet infrastructure; currency fluctuations; and the inability to open new internet data centers and deliver services when requested by our customers. The matters discussed in this press release also involve risks and uncertainties as described in iAsiaWorks' registration statement filed with the SEC.
