  • We target equity investments of $20 million to $100 million and pursue both majority and minority equity positions in growth companies.
  • We focus on technology-enabled service businesses with strong growth drivers and specialize in helping companies break through several hundred million in revenue.
  • Generation's professionals have developed significant expertise in the business process and resources necessary to help build and grow these special businesses, and actively share best practices across our portfolio companies.

We invest primarily in three broadly-defined industry groups: Business & Information Services, Healthcare Services & Technology and Media & Marketing Services

Within these areas, we frequently develop an investment theme and target specific sectors which we believe are poised to benefit from key secular trends. We are long-term investors and have been involved in some of our companies for more than 15 years.

Over the past three decades, the firm’s principals have been involved in countless sales and marketing successes and failures and have developed a network of resources to develop the right mix of programs for a particular company. Generation has also invested in several online/search and marketing service businesses and has developed key relationships and special expertise in these functions that are so critical to accelerating growth.

M&A/Business Development

Generation has years of experience executing buyouts and add-on acquisitions. We offer advice and hands-on use of our professionals to assist portfolio companies in identifying, analyzing, negotiating and financing strategic acquisitions. We enable our portfolio companies to establish and defend their competitive position through both organic growth and the ability to opportunistically acquire strategic assets.

Generation has helped place many executives in our portfolio companies. In addition, Generation has established  relationships with select recruiting firms.

Financial Expertise

Generation plays an active role in corporate finance strategy and execution. Our years of buyout, growth equity and venture capital experience allow our firm to analyze and help execute corporate finance decisions for both emerging and mature companies. We have public and private capital markets experience in both the equity and debt markets and have contacts throughout the investment banking and lending communities. Generation has been instrumental in guiding portfolio companies through multiple IPOs, public equity and debt financings, as well as strategic partner relationships, leasing transactions and bank financings.

Generation encourages and facilitates communication among our portfolio companies to provide managers with advice and counsel on a wide range of business problems and opportunities. This allows managers the opportunity to share experiences, challenges and solutions with an outstanding group of CEOs who run businesses with similar characteristics, size and growth rates.

Generation’s professionals have a long history of helping portfolio companies with strategic alliances and have been involved with portfolio companies that have teamed with Microsoft, General Electric, Comcast, AmerisourceBergen, AT&T, IBM, Computer Sciences Corp., Wal-Mart, Hewlett-Packard, Fuji, Samsung, Siemens, Tegna/Gannett and many others.
